2.2 Services
versus provides betting on the outcome of real-world events, presented as prediction markets. Markets cover a range of categories, which may include sports, politics and current affairs, financial and crypto markets, entertainment and awards, technology, and other novelty or event markets. For each Market you select an Outcome and the Odds and potential Return are shown to you before you place your Prediction.
You bet against versus. We act as principal and are the counterparty to every Prediction.
Each Prediction is a separate single bet. We do not offer combined, parlay or accumulator bets where multiple selections must all win and returns roll over.
Our Services are available only to customers located in the United Kingdom.
2.3 Acceptance of Risk
Risk of Loss — Betting can result in financial loss. Only bet what you can afford to lose. You are solely responsible for your betting losses.
3. Account Eligibility and Verification
3.1 Eligibility
To open an Account and use our Services, you must:
Be at least 18 years of age — underage gambling is a criminal offence
Be located in the United Kingdom
Not be self-excluded from gambling (including via GAMSTOP)
Not already have an Account with us
Be acting solely on your own behalf
Not be an employee of versus or an immediate family member
3.2 Verification Checks
We are required by law to verify your identity, age, and address before you can deposit, bet or withdraw. Identity verification is carried out through our regulated verification providers, including document authenticity and a biometric facial match.
At certain thresholds we may also require evidence of your source of funds and source of wealth. Acceptable documents include:
Valid photo ID (passport, driving licence, national ID card)
Proof of address (utility bill or bank statement dated within 3 months)
Source of wealth documentation where required (payslips, bank statements, tax returns)
3.3 Financial Thresholds
Threshold

Risk-based verification

Additional documentation may be required

Until verification is complete, we may restrict your Account. If verification cannot be completed, we will close your Account.
3.4 Underage Gambling
Underage Gambling — If we discover you are under 18, your Account will be closed immediately, all predictions voided, deposits returned (winnings not paid), and we may report the matter to authorities.
4. Your Account
4.1 Account Security
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secret and secure. You must not share them with anyone. You are responsible for all activity on your Account.
Suspicious patterns: If you suspect unauthorised access, change your password immediately and contact us.
Account Holder Verification: To ensure the person using the app is the same individual who completed identity verification (KYC), we reserve the right to request a short periodic biometric verification via your device’s native security features (Face ID, Touch ID, or similar).
This helps prevent unauthorised account access, protects against fraud, and supports our responsible gambling obligations by confirming that only you can place predictions on your account.
Important — We never access, store, or process your biometric data. Your biometric template remains securely stored on your device only. We receive solely an ‘approved’ or ‘rejected’ response from your device. An alternative verification method is available where biometric authentication is not possible.
4.2 Single Account
You may only hold one Account with versus. The Account must be in your own name and for your personal use only.
5. Duplicate Accounts
You may only register and operate a single Account. If we discover duplicate accounts, we are entitled to:
Close the Duplicate Account (and potentially all accounts if deliberate)
Void all predictions placed on the Duplicate Account
Void all winnings accrued from the Duplicate Account
Return any legitimate funds to the original payment method within 5 working days following investigation
One Account Only — Operating multiple accounts is a serious breach. Duplicate accounts will be closed and all associated winnings voided.
6. Deposits and Customer Fund Protection
Deposit Limit Reminder: Before your first deposit, you will be presented with the option to set deposit, spend, and loss limits (RTS 12E). You will be prompted annually to review your limits. Decreases take effect immediately. Increases are subject to a mandatory 24-hour cooling-off period.
Deposit amounts: The minimum deposit is £10 and the maximum is £10,000 per transaction.
6.1 Accepted Payment Methods
Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro)
Apple Pay
E-Wallets (such as Skrill, Neteller, PayPal, where offered)
Bank-based / alternative payment methods (where offered)
Payments are processed by our regulated payment partners.
Credit Cards Prohibited — Credit cards are NOT accepted for gambling deposits. This is prohibited by UK law since April 2020. Corporate cards are also not accepted.
6.2 Customer Fund Protection
Customer Fund Protection — Customer funds are held in a designated UK bank account, separately from operating funds. These arrangements do not provide protection in the event of insolvency; funds are classified as Not Protected under the Gambling Commission’s requirements.
7. Withdrawals, Maximum Stakes and Payouts
7.1 Withdrawals
You may withdraw your available balance at any time, subject to verification. Withdrawals are processed back to the same payment method used to make the original deposit (closed-loop policy). We may pause a withdrawal where necessary to meet legal or regulatory obligations or where we have reasonable grounds to suspect prohibited activity. We will not request identity information at withdrawal which we could reasonably have requested earlier.
Promotional, bonus and referral balances are not withdrawable as cash and may only be used to place Predictions (see Section 17).
7.2 Maximum Stake
Maximum Stake — The maximum stake per Prediction is £1,000 unless otherwise indicated. Some Markets may have lower limits depending on available capacity.
7.3 Maximum Payout Limits
Maximum payout limits apply regardless of stake. The maximum payout per Prediction is £50,000. Winnings exceeding this limit will be paid in subsequent payout cycles until fully settled.
Maximum Payout — The maximum payout per Prediction is £50,000 regardless of stake or odds. This limit is displayed before you confirm your Prediction.
8. Placing Predictions
8.1 Acceptance
We are entitled to decline all or part of any Prediction in our sole discretion and are not obliged to give reasons. Where capacity for an Outcome is limited, we may accept only part of your requested stake (and will tell you before you confirm).
8.2 Confirmation
A Prediction is only valid once accepted by our systems and you have received a unique transaction reference. Check your Account history if unsure.
8.3 Your Responsibility
It is your responsibility to ensure prediction details are correct. Once confirmed, Predictions cannot be cancelled, closed, sold or traded out by you, and there is no early cash-out. Your Prediction stands until the Market settles.
Check Your Predictions — Always verify your confirmation before the event resolves.
9. How Odds, Returns and Our Fee Work
The Odds for each Outcome, and the Return you would receive if your Prediction wins, are shown to you before you place each Prediction. For example, on a £10 prediction one Outcome may show a return of £20 and another a return of £40. By placing a Prediction you accept the Odds and Return shown.
Our Fee. We charge a Fee of 1.5% per Prediction, up to a maximum of £20 per Prediction. The exact Fee applicable to your Prediction is shown to you before you confirm it.
The Return shown to you when you place a Prediction is the amount you will receive if it wins, after our Fee. No other charge, commission or deduction applies to placing or settling a Prediction.
10. Settlement
10.1 How Markets Resolve
Each Market is settled according to its published resolution criteria, determined by the real-world outcome of the event from credible, widely-reported public sources and official filings. The resolution basis for a Market is shown to you in the app before you bet. Settlement takes place after the Outcome is known or the Market’s resolution date is reached.
Won — your Return (stake plus winnings, after our Fee) is credited to your Account.
Lost — your stake is not returned.
Subsequent changes (appeals, disqualifications) do not affect settlement once a Market is settled.
10.2 Void and Cancelled Predictions
We may void or cancel Predictions, and refund the stake, if event integrity is questioned, there is evidence of match-fixing, predictions used inside information, irregular betting patterns occurred, the Market is abandoned or cannot be resolved, or errors occurred in the Odds. Where an Outcome is withdrawn or changed before settlement, affected Predictions are cancelled and stakes refunded.
10.3 Rounding
For settlement purposes, all amounts are rounded down to 2 decimal places.
11. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are prohibited:
Using our Services for illegal purposes including money laundering or fraud
Providing false or misleading information
Operating more than one Account or allowing others to use your Account
Using stolen or unauthorised payment methods, or funds belonging to another person
Engaging in arbitrage betting, matched betting, or bonus abuse
Using automated systems, bots, or software
Colluding with others, cheating, or using insider information
Past-posting (betting after knowing the outcome)
Using a VPN to disguise your location, or exploiting errors or loopholes
Circumventing safer gambling measures or behaving abusively towards staff
Consequences — If you engage in Prohibited Activities, we may void predictions, withhold winnings, close your Account, and report you to authorities.
12. Account Suspension and Closure
If we suspect Prohibited Activity, we will suspend your Account without notification while we investigate. Your funds cannot be accessed during suspension.
If investigation confirms Prohibited Activity, we will permanently close your Account. We may also close accounts for convenience (with 14 days’ notice), abusive behaviour, regulatory reasons, or safer gambling reasons.
On closure, positive balances will be returned to the original payment method except where you engaged in illegal or Prohibited Activities. Any retained funds pending investigation will be returned within 5 working days of investigation completion.
If no transaction has been recorded on your Account for 12 months, we will treat your Account as dormant and contact you; if it remains inactive we may close it and return any balance to you.
13. Betting Rules
Your Predictions are subject to our Betting Rules (Rules of Play), which form part of these Terms and include:
Market-specific resolution and settlement rules
Dead heat rules and stake division
Postponement and abandonment rules
Rules for events that are voided, rescheduled or cannot be resolved
Live / in-play rules where offered, and entertainment, novelty and event-market rules
Read the Rules — Our full Betting Rules and each Market’s resolution criteria are available in the app and on our website. In case of conflict, these Terms take precedence.
14. Errors, Malfunctions and Interruptions
14.1 Palpable Errors
“Palpable Error” means an obvious mistake in odds, prices, or terms, where odds are significantly out of line with the market or there is a system or human error.
14.2 Our Rights
If errors occur, we may suspend affected Markets, void affected Predictions, withhold winnings credited in error, correct your Account balance, or settle at corrected odds.
Error Policy — If a Palpable Error occurs, we will void the prediction or settle at corrected odds. If you have withdrawn winnings credited in error, you must repay them. Deliberately exploiting known errors is a Prohibited Activity.
15. Limitation of Liability
Nothing excludes our liability for death or injury from negligence, fraud, or any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
Subject to the above, we are not liable for unforeseeable losses, business losses, use in breach of Terms, errors or malfunctions, events outside our control, your circumvention of safer gambling measures, or regulatory compliance matters.
Our total liability is limited to the greater of: the stake for the relevant Prediction; or £10,000.
16. Safer Gambling
We provide tools to help you manage your gambling, available under Settings → Safety Play:
Deposit, loss and time limits — set daily, weekly or monthly. Decreases take effect immediately; increases are subject to a cooling-off period.
Reality checks — reminders of time spent and net position (15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes; default 60).
Take a break (time-out) — block access to your Account for 1, 3 or 7 days.
Self-exclusion — exclude yourself for 6 months to 5 years, or permanently. A minimum self-exclusion period of 6 months applies.
Account history — view your prediction history and running totals of stakes and winnings or losses.
versus participates in GAMSTOP (www.gamstop.co.uk) — the national self-exclusion scheme — and signposts BetBlocker.
Getting Help — GamCare (gamcare.org.uk, National Gambling Helpline 0808 8020 133) · BeGambleAware (begambleaware.org).
17. Promotions, Bonuses and Referrals
From time to time we may offer promotions, bonuses, vouchers, referral rewards or other incentives. Where we do:
Promotional money is not cash. Bonus, voucher, referral and campaign credits are held separately and usable only to place Predictions. They are not withdrawable unless stated conditions are met.
Share & Earn (referrals). A referral reward is credited only once your invitee places their first qualifying Prediction.
Vouchers. Voucher codes may grant fee credit or wallet credit. They are single-use, may expire, require a verified Account, and cannot be redeemed while self-excluded.
Terms apply. Each promotion’s specific terms, qualifying conditions, caps and expiry are made available for its duration and comply with the CAP and BCAP Codes.
If you engage in bonus abuse, arbitrage or matched betting in connection with a promotion, we may withdraw the promotion, void related predictions and withhold associated winnings.
18. Complaints and Disputes
For questions, contact support@versusapp.com. For formal complaints, email complaints@versusapp.com with your username, name, and a detailed description. We acknowledge within 24 hours and respond within 72 hours.

Your data is processed per our Privacy Policy. We collect data for services, identity verification, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. We may share with regulators and law enforcement. Contact dpo@versusapp.com for questions.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may change these Terms for legal, service, security, or business reasons. Minor changes take effect immediately. Material changes will be notified in advance and you will be required to acknowledge them before continuing to bet. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
